SQL Server connector details
The Microsoft SQL Server materialization connector in Estuary delivers data from Estuary collections into tables in a SQL Server database. It supports continuous materialization from real-time or batch pipelines, using standard merge-based updates by default with optional delta updates for applicable workloads.
- Supports SQL Server 2017 and later
- Standard merge-based updates by default to keep destination records synchronized
- Optional delta updates for workloads where changes should be applied incrementally
- Automatic table creation for configured materialization bindings
- Configurable destination schema and table names
- Username and password authentication
- Azure IAM authentication for Azure SQL Database using an Azure App Registration
- AWS IAM authentication for supported AWS-hosted SQL Server configurations
- Direct connectivity or SSH tunneling for databases on private networks
- Automatic quoting of SQL Server reserved words when they appear as field names
- Option to exclude the root Flow document from standard updates for advanced use cases
Each binding maps an Estuary collection to a SQL Server table. The connector creates new destination tables as specified, so the configured database user must have permission to create tables.
For self-hosted SQL Server, Estuary can connect by allowlisting Estuary IP addresses or through an SSH tunnel. The same connector also supports Azure SQL Database, Amazon RDS for SQL Server, and Google Cloud SQL for SQL Server deployment patterns.
How to connect your data source to SQL Server in 3 easy steps
- 1
Connect your data source
Select from more than 100 supported databases and SaaS platforms including PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, and Kafka.
- 2
Prepare and transform your data
Apply transformations and schema mapping as data moves whether you are streaming in real time or loading in batches.
- 3
Sync to SQL Server
Continuously or periodically deliver data into your destination with support for change data capture and reliable delivery for accurate insights.

Ingesting Data into BigQuery: How to set up a Materialization in Estuary
Estuary is a real-time data integration platform that allows you to connect Cloud SQL to BigQuery and other data sources. Estuary is streaming native and has an intuitive no-code UI that’s quick to use once your data systems meet the prerequisites. Like Dataflow, it's also highly scaleable and hands-off once the initial setup is done.
Trusted by data teams worldwide
All data connections are fully encrypted in transit and at rest. Estuary also supports private cloud and BYOC deployments for maximum security and compliance.
